Mailbox actions control what Goose does when it receives an email. You can configure these in Settings > Mailbox.

Auto-reply

When enabled, Goose will automatically draft and send replies to incoming emails based on the context of the conversation and your agent’s memory. This is useful for:
  • Responding to common inquiries
  • Acknowledging receipt of messages
  • Following up on ongoing threads

Approval workflow

If you want to stay in the loop, you can set up an approval workflow instead of fully automatic replies:
  1. Goose drafts a reply when an email comes in.
  2. You get notified via Slack or Telegram with the draft.
  3. You approve, edit, or reject the reply.
  4. Once approved, Goose sends it.
This gives you the speed of AI-drafted responses with the safety of human review.

Configuring mailbox actions

  1. Go to Settings > Mailbox in your agent.
  2. Toggle auto-reply on or off.
  3. If using approval workflows, connect your Slack or Telegram account in Settings > Integrations.
  4. Set your preferred notification channel.

Best practices

  • Start with approval mode to review how Goose drafts replies before enabling full auto-reply.
  • Make sure your agent’s memory includes relevant context about your business so replies are accurate.
  • Use skills to customize how Goose handles specific types of emails.
