# Mailbox Actions

> Configure how Goose handles incoming emails

Mailbox actions control what Goose does when it receives an email. You can configure these in **Settings** > **Mailbox**.

## Auto-reply

When enabled, Goose will automatically draft and send replies to incoming emails based on the context of the conversation and your agent's memory.

This is useful for:

* Responding to common inquiries
* Acknowledging receipt of messages
* Following up on ongoing threads

## Approval workflow

If you want to stay in the loop, you can set up an **approval workflow** instead of fully automatic replies:

1. Goose drafts a reply when an email comes in.
2. You get notified via **Slack** or **Telegram** with the draft.
3. You approve, edit, or reject the reply.
4. Once approved, Goose sends it.

This gives you the speed of AI-drafted responses with the safety of human review.

## Configuring mailbox actions

1. Go to **Settings** > **Mailbox** in your agent.
2. Toggle auto-reply on or off.
3. If using approval workflows, connect your Slack or Telegram account in **Settings** > **Integrations**.
4. Set your preferred notification channel.

## Best practices

* Start with **approval mode** to review how Goose drafts replies before enabling full auto-reply.
* Make sure your agent's [memory](/concepts/memory) includes relevant context about your business so replies are accurate.
* Use [skills](/concepts/skills) to customize how Goose handles specific types of emails.
